Blood and Coffee

So, here we go again, and here we are. Where are we? Well, we moved--I don't know about you--and I promptly fell apart. Not yay for me. It's taken this long to pull out of it.

Not best pleased about that, but what can you do? Adapt as best we can. I have. And onward we go.

First big change--I've moved the randomly updated update bits to their own page.. So yay for that. For everything else, read on down.

Also, introducing Mistress Emilly's Grandiose Theory of Vampirism! On which I'm still working. It's definitely a jumble, but I think I'm onto something. Maybe.

(I still have the insane urge to make that flash in different colors and maybe play a sound when clicked, but that's just because I'm a sarcastibitch.)

Okay. Everything should lead to something--as of today (20 March, 2008).

Coding for the following links:

Teef!=lots of info--solid links, community connections, good pageserious...=serious page, information, theories or essayspretty...=generally for pretty pictures, but some info or useful links

House of the DreamingHouse of the Dreaming, Bholanath's flagship site. This is here primarily because Bholanath asked me to link him. I still think their page is hard to navigate, and I still don't agree with these people or their values, but it's also a fact that I'm a cranky bitch and a chaos witch, so statements like "Stand for order and justice" make me want to blow things up. Seems to me if you're into personality sublimation and Ever Treading the Upward Path, these are your guys. So they're still here.

pretty...The Vampire Church. Over the last three years, the Vampire Church has become forum-centric, has tightened their code and lost all the popups that so irritated me back in 2005. There's more good information. By and large, I'm still not crazy about them, but they've converted to mostly a psi-vamp site, which is now one of my areas of research so...there you go.

Sphynxcat's Vampire Support PageThis is Sphynxcat's Vampire Support Page. She's got a few of the best essays ever written on modern vampirism, and a whole host of other articles and essays, some she's written, some she's gathered from others. She's also one of the most rational folk in this fractured community, and I trust her. Go read. You'll learn something.

St. Louis After DarkThis used to be St. Louis After Dark. It's now Some Lives Are Different. Forum/chat room/articles/creative work site. Requires site registry. So for now, it's as is, I'll check it out and see if that changes their rating later.

True VampiresEvery subculture has its instability points--and the real vampire community, unfortunately, is rather rife with mental illness and aberrant behavior. This book, written by Sondra London, describes that to a T, apparently. Yes, I know, not all of us kill for blood and eat human flesh...but it might be worth knowing about those who have, so you can battle society's misconceptions about what you do at home.

VampiresOoookay. This is going to be here for a bit while I read through it. Already, though, this author has made my loon sensors ping. Unfortunately, she/he also mentioned pranic energy, so...you know, that's my thing at the moment. And hey, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, it's only a theory...but it means I have to read through the page and see if the author's completely cracked, or just partially cracked. Therefore, it's here for a trial period. [Sadly, the trial period is stretched out over three years now; but I'll get to it. Let me update the main page here and make sure it's working; then I'll investigate the rest.]

Sanguinarius, the Vampire Support PageSanguinarius, the Big, the Bad. In existence since 1997, gone through more revisions than I have, and she has a nifty new sigil. This one's got it all, though--rants, raves, graphics, user posts, web-based IRC links, tips, tricks and humor. Everything to keep you sane when the folks at home don't understand.

Drink Deeply and DreamDrink Deeply and Dream has lots of articles, nifty cover art, and now they have a forum, a store, and they make their own fangs. I am slowly catching on that to be this weird, we pretty much have to support ourselves. DD&D, now, they've already figured that out. Plus a screensaver! What more do you want?

Real VampiresThis doesn't lead to a page set, per se, as much as it leads to a single page, Inanna Arthen's essay on real vampires. She wants it rewritten, but until she gets to that, I'll leave it here as a worthwhile read.

Aquilus.netAquilus.net is another mostly-forum site that requires registry to use. Registry is free, and they seem to have a high number of folks in their forums who are fairly knowledgeable, and they have pretty pretty graphics. Beyond that? I wouldn't know, I'm just not that drawn to forum sites, on average. But that's me being a throwback, I suppose.

Trueform WithinTrueform. Another forum-based site, this one mostly intended for the younger set. At some point I'll probably have to stop being so cranky over the term 'therian', but it's still striking me as problematic for a definitive term. Still, we seem stuck with it, for better or worse, and at the least--if Trueform does nothing else--they keep up with news of the bad, the arrests, the ones committing crimes that damage us all, the peaks and valleys of the sensationalist reporting. And beyond that, there's sanguine and psi vamp advice, 'therian' advice, and of course--the forums. Well worth a read through, at present.

NocturnusYet another forum site, but this is one with a difference--they have some really interesting--and in-depth--analyses of possible causes for vampirism. Definitely will be watching them, and reading what I have time for.

Vampires Among UsVampires Among Us. Err. So, Rose Noire says she's updating the non-worky, but at present, her site under Firefox? Is non-worky. And the music is somewhat off-putting, though with enough time, you'll get the ability to stop it on at least a few pages. So this'll kick around here as a 'might be okay in time' link.

Vampiric People's Resource PageHmm. Some good essays here, I'll grant, and really simple coding, but I'll have to wander before I completely approve. She's got an interesting history of the community, however, so yay for that.

By Light UnseenBy Light Unseen is not only especially good at picking out real vampire sites from roleplaying sites, it's also got a lot of myths and legends about vampires, as well as information on the real ones, and much in the way of supportive essays. Keep in mind the site's still very dark on a lot of systems as the main colors are black, dark blue and deep purple.

Pathway to DarknessPathway to Darkness. Oh, my gods. Yes, it has been confirmed that this former clearinghouse site of all things dark and vampiric was, in fact, bought by Father Todd. Used an adjunct of his, Michelle Belanger, the woman responsible for writing the Black Veil creed, to buy the domain. Apparently figured he could just sit back and rake in cash from folks linking to the site, and going through and buying things from the Sanguinarium.

The problem with this was, for once, the real vamp community was smarter than he was. Plus, his rep has gone way downhill in the last few years. And thus, Vampire Wine comes in, saving his ass at the eleventh hour. Now, it's owned entirely by Vampire Wine, and is purely a commercial site, with nothing whatsoever to do with Pathway to Darkness or the Sanguinarium...but there's the connection I was hoping to track down.

Being as how it's not a vampire site in any way, now, technically I should drop it from this list. Because basically, in my opinion, if you really want to try Vampire Wine (bottle label: totally cool. Wine: good for making stew), go to your local specialty wine shop and have 'em ship in a bottle. Really. It's so much easier.

Interview with an Ex-VampireOkay, this is here for one reason: to let others know these loons exist. If anyone ends up popping them funds for the DVD said, I wanna know. Because this particular 'ex-vampire' seems deeply scary to me for some reason, and lunatic besides.

Real VampiresThere are those...namely the author...who firmly believe this article should be revised. She might have a point; it was this article that set me and many others off researching pranic energy systems. So, much as I like it, I'll add the codicil, and advise you read at your own risk.

Vampgirl.com's Organization ListAnd finally, a pretty comprehensive list of various types of vampire organizations around the world. This from Vampgirl.com.
